March 28, 2020 – Looking for the positive

Day 16 – Positive vibes are needed everywhere. Here are some examples which I saw today:

Chalk art on the sidewalks has gained popularity. Bike rides as a family are also fun to see. Pictures of completed puzzles on social media are also a success. Sending a good old fashioned note in the mail is also a pleasant gesture. A family playing basketball together looks entertaining, though exhausting.

I need to focus on the positive today versus the negative. Why? Because our brains need the balance at a time like the current situation. Sort of like a teeter totter, like the ones in elementary school. Too much weight in one side makes you hit the ground. Too much overload of bad vibes just won’t do for our heart or our mind.

Upon awakening, the news is always focusing on the death toll or the number of cases per county, consistently rising each day.

I drink my morning coffee, savoring it’s sweetness, and I smile thinking about my husband sitting near me as we enjoy this quiet time together. The kids are still asleep and even our dogs are enjoying their snoozing time.

I know what’s coming now, since the pattern of cases has been escalating each day. I don’t take the situation lightly. However, I’m always a believer in the positive side of outcomes, the hope that still lingers in the distance.

As an adult, I’m so pleased to see families enjoying and laughing with one another. I know this isn’t the case for everyone, but I want to believe that we’ve come to a greater understanding of family time…whether it’s a home cooked meal together or just taking a short walk with everyone (including the dogs), and feeling the wind on our faces. We took these moments for granted before, because according to excuses, we just didn’t have the time.

My husband and I have always enjoyed our walks, but now when the kids actually want to see more than a phone screen or a movie, that’s a good sign that they too are appreciating time with either us or their siblings. We’ve always been here 🙂

And prayer is back by popular demand. I’ve always loved to pray the rosary as meditation for myself (again, when time allowed for this meditation). Now as a member of an online prayer group, it feels nice to connect to others who request prayer for their loved ones.

I know many aren’t the praying type. I consider myself more spiritual than religious or preachy; however, people are praying all over the world, and regardless of whatever religion…it’s a good thing. It helps you stay centered on a hope that we’ll be okay.

So, today let’s decide to look forward with positive vibes. Let’s see the good in others and reflect on what’s good in our lives. Even if times are tough in some households, I want to believe that the family unit will work together to make the best of the situation and continue to act with a sense of love.

Stay blessed everyone… positive over negative is my thought for the day. Let it be yours, too.
